To manage the Bank and its legal affairs with third parties; to act on behalf of the Board of Directors and convene and preside over its meetings; to ensure compliance with the BCRA Charter, other national laws and the Board’s Resolutions; and to perform all the other duties entrusted to the office as the Bank’s main executive authority (BCRA Charter, Section 10). He is a member of the Board of Directors.
Federico Sturzenegger has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad Nacional de la Plata and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT (1991). He was Assistant Professor of Economics at UCLA (1991-1994), Chief Economist of YPF (1995-1998), Dean of the Business School at Di Tella (1998-2001/2002-2005), Secretary of Economic Policy of the Republic of Argentina (2001), Visiting Professor of Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (2005-2008),President of Banco Ciudad de Buenos Aires (2008-2013) and Member of the House of Representatives, National Congress (2013-2015).
He authored eight books on economics, and has published extensively in the area of international finance and macroeconomics.
In 2005 The World Economic Forum, selected him as Young Global Leader. In 2006 he received the Konex award for his contributions to economic theory.
In 2016, he was honored by École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC, Paris) with the distinction of Professor Honoris Causa.
In 2017 he became a full member of the Buenos Aires National Academy of Science.
