On Wednesday, June 29, the exhibition “500 Jaguars” was inaugurated as part of the launch of the new 500 peso banknote, the first one in the series “Argentina’s Native Fauna”. The exhibition took place at the “Dr. José Evaristo Uriburu (H)” Historical and Numismatic Museum of the Central Bank of Argentina.
The jaguar is the protagonist of the new issue, and of this exhibition as well. It was declared National Natural Monument, one of the most important categories in terms of preservation, bearing in mind it is a critically endangered animal. It is estimated that there are less than 250 specimens in our country.
The exhibition is an invitation to learn more about this magnificent feline, its current situation, its habitat, its presence in the cultural and numismatic heritage. At the same time, it is a symbolic way to show commitment to the protection of the jaguar and the Argentine natural heritage.
The exhibition can be visited Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, in San Martín 216, CABA. Admission is free.
