The Central Bank of Argentina’s primary and fundamental
mission is to preserve the value of the Argentine currency by conducting a
financial and monetary policy aimed at safeguarding all the functions of
money, as provided in the BCRA Charter (Law No. 24144/92 and its amendments).
Therefore, the Central Bank, as the Nation’s monetary authority, is
entrusted with the issuance of legal tender notes and coins.

“Cash” means currency in circulation in the form of notes and coins. It is
characteristically more liquid than the other means of payment; that is, it
can be used in shorter-term, lower-cost economic transactions.
