Nickel coin issued to commemorate the National Constitutional Convention held in
the cities of Paraná and Santa Fe in 1994.

OBVERSE DESIGN |
The upper part features the Argentine Coat of Arms; to both sides, the names of
the two cities that hosted the Convention, “Paraná” to the left and “Santa Fe”
to the right; beneath them, the local coats of arms. Curving around the upper
border is the inscription “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (“Argentine Republic”) and
around the lower border, “CONSTITUCIÓN NACIONAL” (“National Constitution”). |
|
REVERSE DESIGN |
On the reverse, the National Constitution is depicted as an open book where the
first few words of the preamble can be read: “NOS, LOS REPRESENTANTES DEL
PUEBLO...” (“we, the representatives of the people…”), with a marker resembling
a blue and white ribbon, blue and white being the colors of the Argentine Flag.
It also shows the numerical face value —“$5”— and the opening date for the
Convention, “25.V.1994” (“May 25, 1994”), in the exergue. Curving around the
upper border is the legend “CONVENCIÓN NACIONAL CONSTITUYENTE” (“National
Constitutional Convention”). |
