The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was created in 1946 during the
first meeting of the United National General Assembly, and became an
emergency fund for childhood in response to the devastating consequences of
World War II. Fifty years after its creation, the BCRA commemorates this major event issuing two circulated coins, a one-peso coin and a fifty-cent coin, both of them with similar features to the ones currently in circulation. |

Cardboard envelopes were also produced for both coins, with a short historical account of the United Nations and the issue specifications. Five thousand numbered packs have been made. | |
