Fifty-cent circulated coin issued to commemorate UNICEF’s 50th anniversary. The
coin has similar features to the ones currently in circulation.

OBVERSE DESIGN |
The main design shows a girl playing with a rag doll. Curving around the upper
border is the inscription “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” (“Argentine Republic”) and
around the lower border, the motto “EN UNIÓN Y LIBERTAD” (“in union and freedom”). |

REVERSE DESIGN |
The center shows UNICEF’s logo on the upper part, surrounded by the years “1946”
and “1996.” Below the logo, the number “50” over the word “CENTAVOS” (“cents”).
Curving around the upper border is the legend “UNICEF CINCUENTA AÑOS CON LOS
NIÑOS” (“UNICEF fifty years with children”) and in the exergue, the year “1996.”
On both sides, the faces of 10 boys and girls representing different peoples and
races are placed in an alternate way, each one of them symbolizing a five-year
period in UNICEF’s history. The coin is medal aligned. |
