By virtue of Law N° 13010, passed on September 23, 1947, the Honorable Argentine Congress awarded women throughout the country the right to vote. In its first section, this law stipulates that “Argentine women will have the same political rights and will be subject to the same duties as those awarded to or imposed on Argentine men.”

Mrs. María Eva Duarte de Perón was highly instrumental in the passing of this law, which implied meeting the expectations of millions of women citizens and put an end to discrimination against women. Thus, she was acknowledged her endeavor.

Half a century after the passing of Law 13010, the BCRA mints a one-peso coin and a fifty-cent coin with similar features to the ones currently in circulation to commemorate this major event.

Cardboard envelopes were also produced for both coins, with a short historical account of the event and the issue specifications. Five thousand numbered packs have been made.
