On March 26, 1991, Argentina, together with the Federative
Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Paraguay and the Eastern Republic of
Uruguay, established the Common Market of the South with the aim of creating,
as from December 31, 1994, an economic space where goods, services and
factors of production could move freely among their nations.
In this context and to commemorate the interim presidency held by Argentina,
in 1998 a one-peso coin and a
fifty-cent coin were issued, with similar
features to the ones currently in circulation.

Both coins are presented individually and in cardboard packs with a short historical account and the issue features and specifications. Three thousand and five hundred numbered packs have been made. |
